Menu Editor for GNOME

You can use Alacarte to edit your menu in Gnome. It is then convenient for you to for example add your executable .jar link to favorites.
$ sudo yum -y install alacarte
# Or
$ sudo apt-get install alacarte -y
# Then
$ alacarte &
# Or
$ gnome-desktop-item-edit ~/.local/share/applications --create-new
